A blazer can make familiar clothes feel more considered without turning them into an office uniform. The trick is not to make every part of the outfit equally formal. Keep the jacket as the structured element and let the base feel ordinary.

The tee-and-jeans starting point
Try a neutral blazer, a plain tee, straight jeans and shoes you already wear regularly. Keep the tee neckline clear of the lapels. A twist-hem or other shaped tee can add interest, but check that its hem sits comfortably underneath the jacket rather than making two competing shapes at the hip.
Look at the sleeves before deciding whether to push them up. Some fabrics stay put; others wrinkle heavily or keep slipping. Wearing them down is a perfectly good option. A relaxed look should not require constant adjustment.
A midi skirt instead of matching trousers
Pairing a blazer with a softer skirt changes the mood. Start with a simple top tucked neatly enough to show where the upper and lower halves meet. If the jacket is long, leave it open. If you prefer it fastened, check that the front hangs without pulling into an X shape around the button.
Layering for changeable weather
A light knit can replace the tee, provided there is room through the upper arm and back. Try reaching forward as if holding a steering wheel. If the jacket pulls sharply across the shoulders, a thinner base or a different jacket fit will work better than squeezing in another layer. A blazer is not automatically a warm or weather-resistant outer coat.
What to check when buying online
Use any supplied shoulder, chest and length measurements. Compare them with a jacket you actually like, not one you wish fitted differently. Read whether the garment is lined and whether the product description specifies stretch; neither can be reliably inferred from a front-view photograph.
Keep the finishing details restrained
You can add jewellery, a belt or a bag, but none is compulsory. If the outfit already has strong lapels, an unusual tee hem and a shiny skirt, remove one competing detail. The most useful blazer outfit is one you can put on without a lengthy styling routine.
